Who are these faces for

When you first set up Our People, you answered “Who are these faces for?” — either Me or Someone I care for, with a first name. That answer decides two things:

• The title at the top of Browse: “My People” for “Me,” or “{Name}’s People” for someone you care for.
• Whether you edit people with the Edit button right on their photo (caregiver mode), or through Settings → Manage people (“Me” mode).

Changing it later

Go to Settings → Who are these faces for to update your answer at any time — for example, if you set the app up for your father and later want to switch it over so he can use it as “Me.”

Why the name is locked on a family member’s phone

If you join a library that someone else shared with you, the name they set — “Ruth’s People,” say — stays fixed on your phone too. It’s the same shared library everyone in the family is looking at, so the name has to describe the person that library is actually for, not whoever happens to be viewing it. Only the person who owns the library can change that name, in their own Settings.
